Sailing Spain’s Mediterranean Coast

After our great stay in Alicante, we finally cast off on September 25th on a route due west to Gibraltar. It was a nice fair-weather sail with no major events or breakdowns.

Sailing to our San Jose anchorage

After a day of sailing, we reached our first planned anchorage, a nice cove with a sandy bottom just south of San Jose.

We anchored at San Jose for two nights with great weather. However, we had to continue on to Gibraltar so on September 27th, we raised our anchor and sailed west. We were making short daily sails so our next anchorage was just 65NM away at Calahonda.

On our way to Calahonda, we got a surprising visit!

The next day, we had another short leg to our next anchorage at Benalmadena. We spent the whole way motoring to a windless and flat day at sea.

No wind, flat sea!
