Mistral

A nasty Mistral started to blow down the Rhone valley two days ago. It is steady at 8 with burst at 9 on Beaufort scale. It’s being predicted to last for another 8-10 days.

UntitledPort Napoleon marina is not very much protected from the Northerly Mistral, with all the mooring pontoons being positioned in the East-West direction, so even after doubling on mooring lines, our boat  has a constant heel to the port and it’s being jerked around to the point it’s not very comfortable to sleep. Plus all the windage noise.

The only good thing about Mistral, if there’s such a thing, is the clear and sunny sky. Temperatures are around 3°C with the windshield index of -3°C (37°F and 26°F respectively)

For this Sunday before-noon the wind is supposed to stiffen up to 9 bursting at 10 Bft.

20150124_210828I’ve just caught my wind speed gauge showing 48knts. but I’ve seen it a few times crossing into low fifties.
