The last couple of days I was getting Amazon.fr packages with my boat supplies and equipments. Once I’ve got my tool box I was able to get going with fixing this leaky deadlight.
So this morning I removed it to see how’s built and what I would need to get it fixed. It turned out it’s an old style plexi cut out pane backed against wood trim on the side of the cabin with an aluminum trim to the outside and hold in place only by marine silicon.
I got all my supplies at the local chandler’s ‘Accastillage-Diffusion’ and put myself to work. Before lunch time I was able to remove all old silicon, clean it up and prep all the parts for install.
Then a lunch, with wine of course, so I needed some rest before embarking on my project again. Now I glued the pane to the backing, dispensed some more silicon to seal it around and then screwed on the aluminum front trim. Done!
As a bonus I’ve got some red face tan and black silicon dirty hands.
Now I have to wait for a good rain, and it’s coming Monday, to quality check my workmanship.
